We Need You – time to send objections, comments and observations about Shot Head salmon farm proposal
On 20 September 2014, a Public Notice appeared in the Southern Star:
The documents relate to additional information requested by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine following the publication consultation and publication of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed salmon farm at Shot Head. Marine Harvest answer the various questions. However, there are many issues still outstanding. Most notably is a serious concern regarding wave exposure, and the ability of the equipment to withstand such pressures. This is of even great importance given this years storms and the escape of 230,000 salmon in Geahries in February 2014.
We ask all those of you who have voiced concerns to send them in writing now. You can find the documents in Bantry Garda Station or online:
http://www.marineharvestireland.com/about/marine-harvest-ireland/our-locations/ (Scroll to the bottom of that page and there is a section on Shot Head. The documents in the Garda Station are the Statutory Consultation and the Marine Engineering reports).
Any person may, during the next 8 weeks, make a written submission, observation or comment to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, (Aquaculture and Foreshore Management Division), National Seafood Centre, Clonakilty, Co. Cork.
